On a fundamental level, the notion of a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ironfx.com\/en\/the-market-sees-through-the-us-iran-crisis\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">diplomatic solution<\/a> to the US-Iran war seems to be gaining further ground, yet there is still considerable hesitation on whether such\u00a0 a scenario will play out.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It should be noted that the US blockade of Iranian ports tends to tighten the physical oil market. Should we see market worries for the US-Iran war easing further we may see oil prices losing more ground.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-us-equities-remain-high\"><strong><strong><strong>US equities remain high<\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>US equity indexes continued to rise, with S&amp;P 500 and Nasdaq reaching new All Time High levels, implying a substantial optimism on behalf of the markets. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Also, major US banks tended to release better EPS and revenue figures than expected, also contributing to the market\u2019s optimism. In today\u2019s aftermarket hours, we highlight the release of Netflix\u2019s earnings report. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Market focus is expected to be placed on the company\u2019s forward guidance about its yearly sales figure and the EPS and revenue figures. We are also interested in the company\u2019s capital allocation plans, given that the Warner Bros merger is off.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-usd-bears-seem-to-hesitate\"><strong><strong><strong>USD bears seem to hesitate<\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>In the FX market USD bears seem to hesitate to drive the greenback lower. We tend to maintain a bearish outlook for the USD, should market optimism continue to grow, given the USD\u2019s safe-haven status. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Australia\u2019s employment data for March sent mixed signals, yet China\u2019s GDP rate for Q126 implied a faster than expected growth, providing some optimism for the markets.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-other-highlights-for-today\"><strong><strong><strong>Other highlights for today<\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Today we get UK\u2019s GDP and manufacturing output rates for February, Euro Zone\u2019s\u00a0 final HICP rates for March, Canada\u2019s business barometer for April, and from the US we note the release of the weekly initial jobless claims figure, April\u2019s Philly Fed Business index and industrial production rate for March. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On a monetary level, we note that Switzerland\u2019s SNB is to release the minutes of last interest rate decision meeting, while ECB\u2019s Tuominen, Schnabel and Lane, the Fed\u2019s William\u2019s and Miran, RBA\u2019s Hunter and BoE\u2019s Taylor are scheduled to speak. In tomorrow\u2019s Asian session, we get New Zealand\u2019s Electronic retail sales for March.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-charts-to-keep-an-eye-out\"><strong>Charts to keep an eye out<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-wti-s\"><strong>WTI\u2019s <\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>WTI<\/strong>\u2019s price tended to stabilise in yesterday\u2019s American and todays\u2019 Asian sessions between the 93.80 (R1) resistance line and the 87.10 (S1) support level. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The RSI indicator seems stuck at the reading of 50, implying a rather indecisive market, yet the downward trendline guiding WTI\u2019s price action since the 7<sup>th<\/sup> of April remains intact suggesting a continuance of WTIs\u2019 downward motion. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Should the bears maintain control over WTIs\u2019 price action, we may see it breaking the 87.10 (S1) support line and start aiming for the 82.00 (S2) support level. Should the bulls take over, we may see WTI\u2019s price breaking the 93.80 (R1) resistance line and start aiming for the 100.90 (R2) resistance level.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-s-amp-p-500\"><strong><strong>S&amp;P 500<\/strong><\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>S&amp;P 500<\/strong> continued to rise yesterday and in today\u2019s Asian session was able to reach new All Time High levels by breaking the 7015 (S1) resistance line, now turned to support. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We maintain a bullish outlook for the index\u2019s direction as long as the upward trendline guiding it since the 31<sup>st<\/sup> of March remains intact. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Yet we also note that the RSI indicator has reached the reading of 70 and the index\u2019s price action is constantly flirting with the upper Bollinger band, which may imply that WTI\u2019s price action has reached overbought levels and may be ripe for a correction lower. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We set as the next possible target for the bulls the \u00a07250 (R1) resistance line, yet note that the index is in unchartered waters.
