As an investment vehicle approaches the point of being overbought or oversold, the Commodity Channel Index (CCI)<\/em>, a momentum-based oscillator<\/a>, can be used to help identify it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This technical indicator<\/strong> evaluates the direction<\/strong> v\u00e0 strength<\/strong> of the price trend<\/em><\/strong> and helps traders decide whether to enter a trade, stay out of a trade, or increase<\/strong> an existing position<\/strong>. When the technical indicator behaves in a particular way, it can be utilised to provide trade signals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Traders have modified the CCI, which was initially designed to identify long-term trend<\/em> shifts, so that it can be applied to any market or timeframe. Commodity Channel Index: What can it tell you?<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The main applications<\/strong> of the CCI are the identification of emerging trends, the monitoring of overbought<\/strong> and oversold levels, and the identification of trend weakness<\/strong> when the indicator<\/a> deviates from price.
